General section will attempt to cover some developments and trends in scientific fields where lasers are being studied and used. Two halls will be available for parallel work. The program will consist of invited lectures together with contributed oral and poster presentations. In addition to scientific posters an advertising matter of institutions, firms and industrial products would be welcome (Evgeny M. Zolotov). The total number of Workshop participants is planned to be about 110. The Workshop language is English.

One-page abstract must contain: title; list of authors (principal author first); affiliations; correspondence including phones, faxes, e-mails; and the text of abstract.

PROCEEDINGS The Workshop materials accepted by International Advisory & Program Committee will be published in the international journal Laser Physics. At this site the rules of manuscript preparation could be found.

WORKSHOP FEES An early registration fee of $ 250 is valid prior to June 4, 1997.
After 4 of June, 1997, full registration fee of $ 300 should be paid. Bank transfer due date is July 31, 1997. Cash payment of full registration fee can be made at registration desk on site. LOCATION and ACCOMMODATIONS

LPHYS'97 will be held at Krystal Hotel, J. Martiho 2/407, 16041 Praha 6 - Veleslavin; phone: 316-2761, fax: 316-4215.
Jose Martiho is a small quiet street parallel to Evropska on the right side if running from airport. Evropska is a big street connecting airport and city's central area. Krystal hotel locates somewhere in the middle of Evropska. Hotel is ten minutes by streetcar from the central part of the city and fifteen minutes by city bus to airport.

This hotel serves well for conference activity being a centre of management studies of the Charles University and Czech Technical University. This is a reason for some discount prices for workshop participants.

Hotel checkout time is 11 a.m., but luggage could be saved up to 4-5 p.m..

TRANSPORTATION

Being at the airport take the bus No. 119 and run along Evropska up to the station KOOSPOL (8 stops). Walk hundred meters to J. Martiho and then to the left up to the hotel.

At the main railway station HLAVNI NADRAZI take metro (line C) and go one stop to station MUSEUM. Here make a transfer to line A and go to the end station DEJVICKA. Here you can take trams (streetcars) No. 2 or 26 and go to the station KOOSPOL (8 stops); or take the bus No. 119 to reach KOOSPOL station at the 3rd stop. Coming to KOOSPOL from the center you should cross Evropska street.
The price of a bus ticket is 10 Cz Kr. Tickets are also valid for metro and trams.

Be careful with TAXI drivers. Ask the total cost in advance. It is good to conceive your route. The cost of taxi from airport is about 200 Cz Kr (not more than $10), from train station it could be 500 Cz Kr.

CULTURE PROGRAM Workshop will be provided with a culture program including sightseeing tours of magnificent city of Prague, theaters, museums and jazz sessions.
