About our department

Department of Optical Spectroscopy begins its history in 1977 when a "Nonlinear spectroscopy" laboratory was established in the Department of "Light interaction with matter". The main efforts of the Department scientists concentrated around development of various nonlinear spectroscopic techniques and their applications to obtaining new knowledge about molecular structure and molecular interaction. In 1986 the group was reorganised into a "Department of optical spectroscopy". Since the very beginning, the chief of the Department is Professor of Physics Dr. Valery V. SMIRNOV.
